My overarching research goal is to understand signaling pathways mediating immune responses and to leverage this knowledge to the engineering of immune cells for cancer therapy. My current research program focuses on 1) understanding how phase separation regulates immune signaling; 2) reprogramming T cells and granulocytes for cancer therapy.

讲座摘要/Abstract:

The overarching research goal of my lab is to understand signaling pathways mediating immune responses and to leverage that knowledge to the engineering of immune cells for cancer therapy. We have established a supported membrane-based system for reconstituting 2D biomolecular condensates in vitro and for imaging cellular membrane receptor dynamics at high spatial and temporal resolutions. Using this system and cell engineering approaches, we aim to address the following questions: 1) How do biomolecular condensates regulate the T cell receptor signaling? 2) How is antigen signal transmitted across the membrane to activate the chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)? Results from these studies guided the design of CAR-Ts for a better targeting of cancer antigens.
