讲座摘要/Abstract:

Surfaces and interfaces of crystalline materials host unique quantum states, distinct from their bulk counterparts due to broken symmetry and quantum confinement. These states give rise to remarkable phenomena like two-dimensional superconductivity and emergent magnetism. In this talk, I will present recent research on oxide interfaces and heterostructures pushed to the two-dimensional limit. I will highlight the intriguing properties of ruthenate superstructures as a key example. A central theme will be that achieving atomic-level precision in interface design is essential for unlocking the intrinsic electronic and magnetic properties of these quantum materials.
